We're not really potty training Callen b/c it's winter and I'm lazy and Dave's no help. But, after lunch today when I was getting Callen out of his high chair, he said "poop" and I smelled him and asked, "Did you poop?" He said, "no poop," and I looked and sure enough, no poop. But since he was stinky, I knew a poop must be coming so I took of his jeans and diaper and had him sit backwards on the little potty (in case he peed so the pee would go in the potty and not all over his feet and the floor if he sat forwards). I left him alone and sat at the kitchen table. He said, "poop!" so I went to check and there was a pea-sized pebble of poop in the potty. I told him he needed to stay there. Then later, he said, "more poop!" so I went to check and there was more poop but not by much. He signed "bunny" and said "poop." "Bunny poop!" Me: "you mean your poop looks like bunny poop?" "Yeah," he answered. Funny boy! So I left him be again. And then, he did it! He pooped in the potty! I clapped and said, "yay!!" So when I was putting his diaper back on him later, he was clapping and saying "yay!" I reaffirmed how happy we were that he pooped in the potty!
I wish he could just be potty trained already and I wouldn't have to put in the hard work. I guess if I really want to do it I need to put the baby gate back up so I can have him only in one room of the house. I tried it a couple months ago and it was just too hard to keep an eye on him every second so he'd end up peeing on the floor and I didn't see it until later. :(

Day 4: Foot
Well, we finally did it. We got out of the dark ages. Last Saturday, Dave bought us a new 60" flat screen tv to replace the gigantic rear-projection tv that the previous owners had left here. He also got a dvd player so that we could move the one from the basement to the family room since the family room didn't have one. We did all this so we'd have options with how to watch tv. Our old tv was too old to hook up to a computer to watch shows. This way, we could either upgrade or have Dave hook my computer up or have him build a dvr. Then he talked with D!rectTv and we figured if we dropped our home phone that we could apply that monthly amount to the tv. Anyhow, the guys came to install D!rectTv this morning. It was the most I'd been on my food all week so I stayed on the couch the whole afternoon. I managed to read all of The Silver Chair today. I've been reading my way through the Chronicles of Narnia series. Can you believe I've never read them? They are great books!

Day 3: Foot
Dave stayed home from work again to work from home so he could grab stuff for me when I needed it. We did school just like yesterday.

Day 2: Foot
Dave was supposed to go back to work today but he so kindly worked from home so he could feed the kids lunch and grab stuff for me when I needed it. I parked myself on the couch with my foot propped up. The little table and chairs is right next to the couch so it made it really easy to do school that way.

Christmas. Day 1: Foot Injury
Today is Christmas and I haven't spent today quite as planned. This morning when I was going downstairs to check if there was more cereal in the closet, I rolled my foot on the vacuum cleaner hose. It hurt SO bad and instantly swelled with blood. I spent the rest of the day on the couch, icing and elevating my foot while watching lame Christmas movies on the Ha!!mark channel. At least I have an awesome hubby that took care of me, but I must say, he wasn't in the best mood.

Flu
Callen woke up at 4am amd he had thrown up all his dinner, which was very very red because daddy had let him eat a ton of freeze dried raspberries, strawberries, and blueberries. So it took us a while to clean him up amd the mess. Then her threw up a little more before we put him back to bed. He finally fell asleep after 5:30, I think. I don't think I ever fell back asleep. Had to wake him up to take Elodie to school and he was okay in the car but wanted a cracker and water when we got home around 9am which he threw up. After that, I talked with the nurse then tried to lay him down for a nap. He probably stayed in there 45 min while I got some quality time with God. Then he started crying so I got him up and did the spoonful of water every 20min thing. After an hour though, he got really mad and threw a tantrum the whole twenty minute wait in between because he really really wanted crackers and water. So sad. I put him down for his nap at 12:30 and her finally fell asleep at 1pm after much crying. Poor guy. Praying he sleeps a long time and wakes up completely healed. The nurse said I could give him more water and a cracker after he wakes up and see how he does.
Now he just needs to get well so he can get allergy tested again next week.

10/10/12: Callen's 2 year old doctor
Callen had his 2 year old well visit today. The doctor also checked out this cough he's had for over 3 weeks.
Height: 33.5" (less than 25th percentile)
Weight: 25lbs 6oz (10-25th percentile)
Head: 19" (25-50th percentile)
Then we got our flu shots. I got mine first and then he got his and he didn't even make a peep. No crying, nothing. He was awesome! Oh, and the doctor wants him to start on a low dose inhaler when he's sick to see if we can prevent the steroid treatments he's had twice in the past 2.5 months.

8/20/12: Museum & words
Callen has a few new words today. He clearly pointed to doors several times today and said "doh" (door). He also signed & said "nana" (banana). He constantly amazes me with what he understands and remembers.
Today I took the kids to the free day at the Denver M*useum of Nature and Science. Both kids had fun.

The first thing we did was go to the Space Exploration exhibit since we had just studied the sun and the moon. I think this exhibit was harder for Elodie to get into because there's so much information and science jargon. She did listen to an entire presentation on why blood can boil in space (change in pressure). Then we met up with some friends in the Gems exhibit, but then they were going to the Space one so we took a break for lunch. We never did catch back up with them, but some other friends found us while we were eating and ate with us. After lunch, we went through the dinosaur exhibit. Again, Elodie listened for a very long time to a hands on presentation on dinosaur stuff.
Tonight, Elodie had her first real soccer practice. She's in a U7 girls' team with practices twice per week and games on Saturday. She's going to miss 4 games when we're in California, but she get to go to three in October.

Lastly, we did the human body one and I think it was both kids' favorites (I know it was Elodie's...guessing it was Callen's).

I couldn't catch him fast enough, but he was making the skeleton do as he did :) Then when we got home tonight and were showing daddy the photos, he remembered exactly what that was a photo of and started moving his arms out to his sides. :) Smart boy.
