1/22/12: Dropped nursing, etc.

This past week, Callen started refusing to nurse (and sometimes asking for milk instead by signing "milk") or nursing very little at lunch and dinner so that by the end of the week, he'd dropped the 12pm and 4pm nursings all together. Kinda sad for me, but at the same time very freeing for me because now, if I wanted to, I could actually be gone all day. :)

Other Callenisms: He'll sign "milk" and walk over to the fridge. I'll get out the milk and try to hand it to him, but he'll refuse, so I'd put it back. But he actually wanted it so he'll whine and I'll get it out again and he'll take off down the hallway and then sit down in the family room waiting for his milk. This happened for awhile before Dave and I figured out that, yes, he wanted his milk, but only when he had sat down where ever it was that he wanted to sit. So now, he'll sign "milk," walk to the fridge to see you get it out, then high tale it somewhere to sit down and wait for you to hand it to him. So cute!

I think I've mentioned before that Callen loves the plastic castle slide we have in our basement. He can go up and down it on his own, but occasionally can't get up it if his socks or jammies are too slippery (best with bare feet). His latest thing is sliding down into this huge monkey pillow pet type thing at the bottom. He just loves it. Plus, it cushions his slide if he wasn't so eloquent about his method downward. He also just loves to walk up to the monkey and fall into it and then irrupt into giggling. It's pretty darn cute. He likes to play peek-a-boo through the slide too (when he's on the end he climbs up at).

He seems to incur more injuries, boo boos, bruises, eggs on his head, split lips, etc. that we ever remember Elodie having. Just in the past 24 hours, he split his bottom lip open, fell off the step stool onto the tile floor on his face attaining a nice goose egg on his forehead and split open his top lip, all while his parents watched while not be fast enough to prevent injuries.

Thurs. 7/30/09...Ball BBQ...

Today was a cold & rainy day so we stayed inside all day. We read books, put together puzzles, rode the pony, & went down the slide.

Then this evening was the systems engineering dept.'s bbq. We went to check it out b/c we thought they might have stuff that L would like and could chat w/D's coworkers. We went at the right time...right after the rain stopped and before it started again. It was catered by Frank's BBQ and we weren't impressed at all. D thought KT BBQ and Famous Dave's BBQ were much better. Famous Dave's is one of my fav restaurants out here. Anyhow, we saw some of his coworkers and L was able to enter the duck race down the "creek." She won her heat and got third overall. Now she wants to take that ducky everywhere.

She can do several of her puzzles all by herself.

she can do the animals puzzle too...and likes to do their noises as well.

I took some pics around downtown Louisville to cram for a contest, but I only had my P&S camera since I had broken my filter on my DSLR on Wednesday.

Thursday, 3/19/09...

Today was a much better day than yesterday...so yay! I did lots of housewifey stuff (or home engineer as i was told is the pc term) like vacuuming (which L was very upset that she couldn't do), cleaning the bathroom, diaper laundry, and feeding L. After D got home, I got some great pics of L on the slide, the rocking horse, and her couch. I also got a pic of her "praying" on her rocking horse. D started praying with her before bed at night after I saw my sister doing it with her daughter...and I thought I guess she's old enough for that now. Anyhow, I just started doing it with her before naptime too yesterday. Well today she kept pointing to her crib rail at naptime and I couldn't figure out what she wanted...then it finally occured to me that I lean my arms on the crib when I clasp my hands together & pray...and that's what she wanted me to do, was pray! yay Jesus! So anyhow, this evening she was on her rocking horse, and she wanted D to pray so I have a pic of her "praying."

Here's a video of L going down her slide.

Monday, 3/16/09...more slide pics

This morning I did a bunch of returns at Target and then headed over to the mall to make a return. I decided to hit up the Verizon booth there since I needed info on phones since mine had stopped working this morning. :(

These are pics from before our morning errands.

cheese....such an apathetic looking "cheese!"

Tonight we went back over to the mall to get new phones. Unfortuately, mine is incomplete b/c my old phone's info failed to transfer over even though D's worked so we'll have to try again tomorrow at another store. I'm still excited though about my snazzy new phone...the LG Dare!

Sunday, March 15th...Home safe

We were gone for a week in Pagosa Springs (which hopefully I'll get around to blogging about eventually but I was on vacation...apparently from blogging as well!) and we got back last night.

Getting back from vacation on a Saturday instead of a Sunday is great b/c we were able to accomplish a bunch of stuff today. This morning, we went on errands to Walmart, Target & Costco using coupons I had clipped...so proud of myself for saving my family money! We wanted to go to Verizon too but we ran out of time before L's naptime. Our big purchase of the day was a slide for L. She really loves the slides at the playgrounds and at my sister K's house so we decided to shell out the dough for one. We put it together during her nap and her expression when she saw it was priceless. She just loved it. Now she keeps pointing to the basement and saying "wee" (her word for slide) b/c she wants to go down to use it.
