4/2/12: Elodie & Mario
I was talking to Elodie and she says "when I grow up there's going to be two mamas in our house until I get married." I'm scrambling at this point to think of the right thing to say in this teaching moment. I say, "No, because unless you adopt you not going to have any babies before you get married. You'll be a woman because you'll be grown up but a mama means you have a baby and no babies until married." Elodie says, "It's going to be so hard to choose a husband." (like there's going to be so many choices that it's going to be hard to choose) At this point, I'm trying really hard not to laugh. I say, "Well, I think you'll know. I just knew with daddy. If you are really worried about it, when you get older, you can start praying that God brings you the right one." Elodie says, "But I just want Mario."

Tuesday, 12/8/09...CB day 3
Today Mario, Derek, Dave & I went skiing. We're staying so close that we just walked down the hill a little and across the bridge, and we were right there. Mario was there when the lifts opened but the rest of us took our time getting ready in the morning and deciding whether we really wanted to ski while it was cold and snowing. Plus, it gave us time to dig Derek's car out from under all the snow before we left.
Mario had brought walky-talkies so we were able to meet up with him when we were done getting our rentals. Visibility was really poor but skiing in powder was awesome. Mario took us over to the other side of the mountain but we only did a run and a half over there before heading back to the main side because it was super steep and really hard to see so you had to skiing really loose in order to anticipate things you couldn't see. Then we took a break for lunch and had some super yummy pulled pork nachos. After thawing out, we did another couple runs before calling it a day.
We'd never skied Crested Butte before, but our assessment was that it's really geared more for the experience and expert skier. They hardly have any easy terrain and even their "greens" weren't very "green" and neither were there "blues" very "blue."

It was so cold on my hands to get out the camera that this is the only video of the day...Derek & Dave coming down an easy slope.

Mario will be, well, Mario.

Monday, 12/7/09...more snow...
L was super excited to see that Mario was there in the morning b/c she was disappointed he hadn't arrived by bed time last night, except that when she saw him sleeping on the couch, she got all shy....literally. She said "I shy" and buried her face in D. Too funny.
So after everyone was ready, we headed out in the snow to town (we're in Mount Crested Butte right across from the lifts...view of the runs from the living room & master) in search of the sledding hill but found it closed so we went to the park instead. We had tons of fun playing in the snow and on the playground...and not just the girls...Katie, Derek, Dave & Mario all went down various slides. Definitely good for a few laughs. Then there were some snowball fights. Mario got me good. Dave got it good...down his shirt. And I, well, I was doing what I do...taking pictures!
Keep in mind that all the park pics are from my point and shoot.
