2/26/13: Potty Training
He's peed three times this morning. All by himself on the potty, taking
off his undies first. Even emptied the bowl the last time and then came
to tell me. Pooped by himself too.
2/26/13: Surgery consult
VCD better.
still taking prune juice and miralax
cocktail once per day. it's not as bad as it was to start, but i
wouldn't go as far to say I liked it. ;) I had a surgery consult on Monday and the surgeon thinks there is an 80-85% chance that if I get my gallbladder out that it will take away my pain and nausea. He also made the surgery seem like no big deal...out patient procedure, leave hospital anywhere from an hour to four hours after surgery. No lift restrictions. No prep for surgery. Same surgeon that took Dave's appendix out.
Anyhow, we're praying about it but leaning towards that since I'm really sick of feeling sick (and so is Dave!).

2/25/13: lost tooth
Elodie lost her first tooth today (lower bottom front right). Time is passing all too quickly! :(
She however is very excited because she hated having the tooth lose because she said it hurt. She's also very excited to tell her friends.
2/25/13: Potty training day 4
So I started potty training Callen on Friday, kind of last minute, but I knew that we happen to have a few days in a row to do it.
He actually "got it" quicker than Elodie did because from day one, he peed in the potty quite a few times, all without me asking.
On Saturday, I tried putting some undies on him, but he promptly peed in them, and then he was crying from the huge rash he had from them. (I took them off as soon as it happened but his pee must have reacted with the detergent or something because I had to give him a bath for the stinging to stop.) I bought him more undies at the store and he was so excited because they were Thom*s the Train, Elm*, C*okie Monster, and Gr*ver. He peed in another pair of undies so I left him naked from the waist down after that.
Yesterday, he had two accidents. One time, he sat on top of the potty with the lid closed and peed. Another time, he peed on his wooden blocks while clapping and saying "yay!" Dave was like, "no!!!!!! no yay! pee on potty!"
Today was day four and I decided to have him wear undies today since we are going to have to leave the house at some point! He had two accidents today too. One time, he hid in a corner between the couch, wall, and shoe bench and peed in his undies and on his shirt, sweatshirt, socks and the floor. And while I was contemplating quitting, he sat on the potty and went #2 all by himself. Before I put his undies back on him, he stood in front of Elodie (who's been on the couch sick since Saturday) and peed on the floor. After I put his undies back on him, he said, "Pee pee potty" so I helped him get his undies off and he peed in the potty. After his nap (we're doing diapers for nap & night since he's still in his crib), he took his own undies off to pee in the potty three times. Yay Callen!
Hoping he can continue to improve. :)

2/9/13: Elodie was singing a song about countries this morning when she said, "Turkey, Greece, and cereal." Dave said, "you mean Syria?" :)

2/12/13: Too much health info info :)
So last week I started to feel like it was hard to
breath, like someone was sitting on my chest...like my shirt was too
tight. I took my asthma meds and there was no relief. It got worse
Sunday so Monday morning I got in to see the allergist. Because my lung
function tests were good, she suspected my vocal cords. She put a
camera up my nose and I was diagnosed with Vocal Cord Dysfunction.
Anyhow, the only cure is to go to speech therapy, one that specializes
in VCD, to learn how to open up my vocal cords so that they let air in.
The doctor said that a number of things can cause it, including stress,
post nasal drip (which she said I had a ton of), and acid reflux. I'm
already on meds (pantoprazol & pepcid) that would treat acid reflux
because of my GI stuff. Now I'm taking Mucinex on top of that for the
post nasal drip and I'm supposed to do daily nasal rinses as well.
Anyhow, just wanted to keep you all up to date on my latest medical issues. :) You can pray that the therapy helps asap. My first session is Thursday afternoon.
I also met with my GI doctor again yesterday and he thinks it's most likely not my gallbladder. He thinks his original diagnosis is correct, which was some fancy term for stomach bug triggered GI issues that eventually resolve over time. There now seems to be a 4ish week cycle to my issues, starting with sudden onset of nausea and stomach pain that can last for weeks. This last time, the nausea only lasted 5 days but the stomach pain has lingered. We're trying to get my constipation under control too (something that I never had a problem with before so I think it's all linked together). I'm just started my regiment of 4 oz of prune juice per day to help with that after much convincing by the doctor. Let me just say that it is nasty!!!
