4/24/11: L funnies

L is spending the weekend for the first time ever up at her grandma & grandpa's house in Cheyenne. We met grandma in Ft. Collins for lunch on Friday and she took L home from there.

On Saturday, Grandma said she saw L's light on at 6:15 am so Grandma told L that they were up and she could come out. She said she thinks L likes being in a house with early risers. :) Grandma took L to Kenzie's soccer game in the morning. Then Chase, Kenzie, Jenny, grandma & L drove down to Boulder for Chase's soccer game. Then they spent a few hours at Uncle Dale & Auntie Candy's house. Grandma said they played outside for two hours and did an egg hunt. Then they stopped in Loveland to use some gift cards before heading home around 7:30pm. It snowed most of the way home. After getting a bath, Grandpa read L a book on the couch and Grandma read her one in bed and then she was asleep within 2 minutes.

Today, we got to sk*pe with L before she went to church with Grandma. She was again able to recite Luke 24:6: "He is not here. He is risen!" They were going to have Jenny & the kids over for Easter brunch. Jenny said:
Quote of the day from my niece
L..."Brownies Have mold in them"
Gma..."who told u they had mold? "
L..."scooby doo"
Jenny said that L's cracking her up. :)

false labor (pre-labor)

Last night I had contractions all night long. They started at 15 minutes apart for an hour or so and then got up to 7 minutes apart before I finally fell asleep some time after 4am. When I got up in the morning, I had a couple contractions but then they went away. L had been up every 45 minutes for half the night so between her and the contractions, I got like 2 hours of sleep. L came down with a cold Saturday morning so she was having a tough time sleeping. I was so tired, I went back to bed in the morning and then took a nap in the afternoon too. But the regular contractions never came back.

On Saturday, we spent some time playing with L in the morning before D's mom came down and D took her to the store to buy stuff she needed for her computer. Then after they came back, she watched L so we could go out by ourselves. We went to lunch at To*kyo Joes and then test drove a To*oyta Si*enna in Boulder before heading down to Westminster to test drive a Ho*nda Od*yssey. The later was black on black and was SO hot. Then I decided that even though it was already three p.m. that this was our chance to get all the way down to south Denver to look at another Ho*nda so we did that as well. Our sales guy down there was from Paris so that was super fun. When we got back home, we decided to go to Chi*ck-Fil-A for dinner since it was already after 5pm and his mom had never been there.

Sat. 6/19/10...L's family bday party

Today we had the family birthday party. Originally, I was going to just have one party, but the Mayernicks & Uncle Dale couldn't make it the same day (Dale's only in town 3 of the 8 weekend days for the month), but it ended up working out great. We started the party inside, with D making the bbq grub and everyone just hanging out. I made everyone take a family picture. Then we moved outside to grill & eat. L chose to have cupcakes this time so we arranged them all on a platter and stuck the "3" candle in one so she could blow it out. Afterwards, L opened her presents. She got $$ from grandma & grandpa, a super nice scooter from Uncle Dale & Aunt Candy, a sprinkler hose water thing from GG Ethel, a Le@apster2 from Mario, and two tool sets from Auntie Jenny & the kids. Then Chase, Kenzie, & L all changed into their swimsuits and we hooked up the water sprinkler thing that GG got her. Man, can that thing spray far. I got sprayed more than once trying to get a picture and then finally gave up. Then D set up the slip 'n slide and unfortunately after one slide down, the end popped. After that, D & grandma made a T@rget run to get a new one and D held the hose at the top of the old one so the kids could keep using it until they got back with a new one. (We're going to try to return the one that popped since it had only been used once.) They were on and off the slip 'n slide until they were all purple & shaking. Then they'd towel up until they wanted to go back out. They must have been on it for a couple hours. Dale & Candy finally left b/c Dale was so tired (he had come straight from the airport & a really early flight).

The kids all changed out of their wet clothes and drove into the new toys to play with while the adults cleaned up. Jenny & Grandma were able to stay late since they had left a sick grandpa at home. We decided to get P@pa Murphys pizza for the four of us and McDon@alds for the kiddos. By the time we all ate dinner, it was getting late so the WY crowd packed up to go home.

We were all beat. We gave L a bath and she fell asleep in D's lap when he rocked her in the rocking recliner. It was only 7:30pm. No nap and constant action equals one tired 3 year old (and mama!).

Pics will have to come later since I'm still working on getting through the CA trip from last month!

Sunday, 4/11/10...Cheyenne & baby bump

Today we went up to Cheyenne for D's nephew C's 10th birthday. He had 3 friends and some family at the Municipal Pool there. L spent the entire time in the pool w/D and had a ton of fun. I don't think she's ever been in the water that much (they make everyone get out of the pool for 15 min. breaks every hour) and she loved going down the slide with daddy. D was really worn out by the end. After the party, we headed back to D's mom's house with his sister & kids in tow. L had a ball playing with her cousins, especially K. She's 8.5 years old and is great at playing with L. We stayed for dinner and left around 7:45pm. L fell asleep on the way home and we were able to transfer her to her bed with no problem.

Here's the best cousin pics I got (you can see some of the series in the slideshow):

Here's a slideshow of the pics from today:

And of course, here's some baby bump pics too: I'm 18 weeks here.

Christmas 2009

We had an awesome Christmas at Dave's mom's house in Cheyenne. We had a not-so-awesome drive there and back with 50mph winds, ground blizzards, low visibility, and icy roads, plus we thought we were going to run out of gas on the way there because our gas mileage was so much lower because of the winds.

After we made it inside safely after almost blowing away, we first took some family photos before we snacked/lunched on the tons of yummy food that Karen had made. She had quite the spread out. Then there was some Wii playing before Candy & Dale arrived and we could do presents. After the massive amount of presents for the kiddos, I made everyone get in a group photo, along with photos of the kiddos with the sets of adults, plus Jenny wanted a family photo. Then the kids played and the adults talked until dinner was served. After dessert, we followed Dale & Candy home. We left around 8:30 and got home after 10pm. L didn't get a nap and slept for about an hour in the car ride home.

Saturday, 11/21/09...Adoption training & Grandma babysitting

Today D & I spent the whole day up in Berthoud doing day 2 of our adoption training and D's mom had come down last night so she could spend the day with L. Here are some of the happenings:

  • Before bath time, L went crazy, jumping on the bed, burying her head in her stuffed animals and burying herself under the blankets, laughing. Well grandma didn't want to encourage her craziness so she just stood there with her arms crossed. Finally L stood up on the bed and said, "Okay. Ready now."
  • Grandma took L on a walk in the jogger up past the lake to the park. When they got there, L took her snack and said, "We'll eat first" and ran up to the picnic tables and said, "Eat lunch first." Then when they got home, L walked through the front door and said, "I'm starving."
  • When grandma couldn't figure out how to put the train tracks together, L said, "Grandma's got issues."
  • Later, L was laying on the floor and she put her arm over her forehead and said, "I'm mad." Grandma asked, "Why are you mad?" L replied, "I'm mad."
  • L ran about half way around the block before announcing, "I'm tired."
  • When D was putting L to bed tonight and was saying prayers, he said "thank you for" and L said, "Grandma. Ride in jogger around lake. Fun."

6/20/09...L's 2nd Birthday Party...

I took the opportunity to take some family photos before L's party since we were all dressed up. I can't decide which of these 3 I like best...maybe you can vote...

the happy couple

3 generations: mom, L & me

grammie & L
group shot: J, L, my mom, D, me, Uncle Dale, Aunt Candy, D's mom, Chase, D's stepdad, D's sis, McKenzie

We thought the party was a great success. Everyone from Cheyenne was able to come down (D's mom & stepdad and D's sis & her kids); D's aunt & uncle came; my mom was out visiting; and my sis Jenn made a surprise appearance under the guise of a business trip. :) Plus, our friends. Mario and the Mayernicks & their daughter Mya (L's "friend") were all able to make it.

We checked a bunch of things off her gift list too. She got a ton of books from grammie, wooden fruit & a book on fruit from Auntie Jenn (she likes these b/c they are all in at least two pieces held together by velcro and L gets to use a knife to "cut" them), a dress & toy from the Chapmans, sticker books from Opa & Nonna, a coloring book. bows, & dressup shoes from the Mayernicks, money from Auntie Amanda, Grandma, & Auntie Jenny, and a trike, complete w/basket, horn, gloves, elbow & knee pads, and helmet from Auntie Candy & Uncle Dale. The trike was a huge hit and we've been taking treks around the neighborhood multiple times a day on the trike. She can reach the petals but hasn't figured out how to petal them yet.

She also liked the "cake" (giant cupcakes from Costco) more this year than last year. No tears this time and then she kept asking for cake for days afterwards, even though she didn't actually eat that much of it.

All in all, we had a great time and we think L did too. She'll even say she's "two!" when you ask her how old she is now. Too cute!

Weekend of 2/28&3/1...

Saturday morning we made it to Bible study...late, but we made it. All week, L's been waking up early and she picked Saturday morning to finally sleep past 8am (she promptly went back to waking up early on Sunday & Monday). We were able to get our food from the Carluccis' freezer while we were there as well.

D's mom, Karen, made the trek down so D could take a look at her monitor that is broken. Turns out it really is broken, but it's still under warranty so that's good. We hung out and got all caught up.

3 generations (like L's belly hanging out??!!)

Last week, I got L some new toys that she's been enjoying. She really liked Sara's doodle thing when we were in OK so I got her one for the house and a travel one for the car. I also got her a mini keyboard that has lots of buttons for various sounds and she's liked that too. Additionally, I got her some crayons for the bath tub and she absolutely LOVES them. The first night she cried when we made her get out of the tub and put the crayons back in the tub. Anyhow, every night since she's scribbled on the tub.

After Karen left & we put L to bed, we watched August Rush....i'm a total sap so I liked it and I enjoyed the musical talent of the cast.

On Sunday, D let me try to get some extra sleep while he entertained L. Then we took a couple walks around the block w/L and stopped by an open house of a house near us. That evening, we were going to walk down to the rec to let L play & take the jogger so it would be faster to get back. L saw the jogger and wanted to be in it so she rode in it on the way there and back. It was a beautiful evening and she was able to play for a while before D was starving and we came back home for dinner. On the way home, a car passed by and L said, "it goes." :)

my new sweater i got on clearance from old navy w/KT :) it sparkles...or so D keeps telling me! :)
